Design

The Elisava Design School organised in January 2009 the second Automobile Design Symposium announcing the projects undertaken by the pupils of the Design Master's Degree in Transport Vehicles of this school, under the supervision of the car manufacturer SEAT. The first model presented was the SEAT Terranova, an all-road vehicle of compact dimensions that stands out for its futuristic design and environmental friendliness. In addition, the SEAT Technetium is looking like the 21st-century coupé. Its design features a front engine distribution and establishes a central driver's position with two passengers in the back, in order to intensify the sensation of speed of the vehicle. Lastly, the SEAT 2050 is a single-seater available in two versions: combat and sport. The former mixes a technological style with the language of attack vehicles, while the latter version evokes extreme racing cars. In addition to the student projects, another vehicle was shown that is the result of the collaboration of the school with other companies from the automotive sector: the Migia Beluga N1, a four-seater designed for urban use where safety concerns and interior space predominate over aerodynamic shapes. Its mechanical technology will be hybrid: combustion engine and electrical drive combined. The symposium ended with the conferences SEAT design, with Luis Santos, head of Complete Vehicle Design at SEAT, and From design/concept to production by Teo García, Technical Project Leader at the same company.
