After a complete redesign last year, the 2000 Grand Cherokee receives only minor appearance and equipment changes. The 4.7-liter PowerTech V8 is now available in 2-wheel-drive versions and with the Selec-Trac transfer case in 4-wheel-drive versions. New Royale softer leather seat material is available and two new exterior colors are offered.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Specifications

Flagship of the Jeep brand, the Grand Cherokee is aimed at the upscale sport-utility buyer. It was introduced in 1992, and in 1993 became the first in its class to offer an optional V8 engine. Unlike many of its competitors, the Grand Cherokee features unibody construction, which makes for a stiffer body and allows the suspension to be tuned for better ride and handling. Since the Grand Cherokee was introduced the sport-utility market has exploded, with buyers demanding more car-like features. Jeep has responded with additional standard luxury amenities and a 4-wheel-drive system that its maker claims is the most sophisticated in the sport-utility segment. For 1999 the Grand Cherokee was redesigned for the first time in its history, and offered new features such as the Quadra-Drive 4WD system, a 4.7-liter PowerTech V8 engine, new steering, new suspension, and a new brake system.
